Do Russians need a visa to Greece? Self-registration of a visa to Greece: what documents are needed, filling out an application form, photo requirements. Consent to the processing of personal data

Any trip to Greece requires a visa, how long do they give a visa to Greece in 2020 and how can I get it, how long will it take to process and when to apply? It all depends on the purpose of the visit and how the applicant used past permits. Over the past 20 years, Russians have been actively traveling around European countries, but Greece is especially popular. Some visit it only once every few years as a tourist, while others enter local universities, work or even plan to move to Homer's homeland, sometimes Greeks and Russians get married.

Greece is among the 26 countries that have signed the Schengen Agreement. You can visit it not only with a Greek visa, a stamp from the embassy of any other country from the remaining 25 is enough.

Depending on the purpose of the visit and the duration of the intended stay in the country, short-term and long-term permits are possible. They can be single, double or multiple. Getting a short-term Greek visa is quite easy, but with a long-term one, the situation is somewhat more complicated. But in 2020, Schengen has become more affordable, including long-term. The registration rules will be the same in any case, but the package of documents for a long and multiple visit will be puffier, and the cost of contacting intermediaries is many orders of magnitude higher.

Short term permits

In most cases, foreigners stay in Greece for a short period of time in transit, visiting relatives or spending holidays.

Visa for 90 days

In 2020, it is easiest for Russians to obtain a short-term Greek visa. It operates under the 90/180 rules. That is, a foreigner can stay in Greece for 90 days within six months. After this period, you must definitely leave the country, otherwise it will become extremely difficult to get a stamp in your passport again. In addition, they can be issued for a period of 90 days during the year, sometimes it is given exactly for the duration of the trip.

Such visas are made for various purposes. Most often they are used by tourists and guests invited by local residents, but they are also obtained for participation in business and educational events.

The standard consular fee is 35 euros for processing within 10 days and 70 for urgent consideration of the application.

island visa

Of particular note is the short-term permit to visit the islands of Kos, Lesvos, Chios, Samos, Symi and Kastellorizon. Sometimes you can find information about the possibility of visiting Rhodes on a simplified visa, but in 2012 this is not possible. In 2020, it is valid for only 2 weeks and is usually obtained by Russians during their holidays in Turkey. It can be used by sea to get to these islands.

  • take 2 color photographs in the port;
  • copy the pages of the passport;
  • purchase tickets for sea transport;
  • get a bank statement from an account with at least 500 euros.

Attention! If the trip lasts more than a day, a hotel or hotel reservation will be required.

In 2020, such a visa is given directly in Turkey.

Transit visa

Transit airport visas can also be considered short-term. It gives the right to stay at the airports of Greece during transit flights to other countries. At the same time, you cannot leave the international zone of the airport. To obtain it, a permit to enter the country of destination, transport tickets, internal and foreign passports are sufficient.

Long stay visa

But how long can a lover of frequent holidays or those who, on duty, often visit this country stay in Greece? Long-term Greek visa in 2020 allows you to stay for a year or even 3 years. It is much more difficult to make them than short-term ones. They require multiple entries. Before applying for an annual permit, you need to actively and without violating the law close the short-term one. A few more documents will be required. The applicant must confirm the purpose of the visit and the need to repeatedly visit Greece.

Such permits in 2020 are issued for a variety of purposes. Tourists who often vacation on the islands and leave them in a timely manner simply have to show how many visas have already been closed. However, if the permit was issued but not used, it will no longer be possible to claim an annual stamp. If Greece has remained a favorite holiday destination for a year, a Russian will be able to apply for a three-year permit.

It is also possible to obtain a long-term permit for reunification with relatives, education in Greek academic institutions, work at the invitation of local companies, tourist representation. In such cases, it is possible to obtain a residence permit in the future.

Differences in design depending on the term

The cost and processing times for any Greek visa application in 2020 are the same. The consular fee is set by all Schengen countries in the amount of 35 euros when considering an application within 10 days. You can make an accelerated permit in 3 days and 70 euros. You can get any desired stamp in your passport at the consular authorities, visa centers or accredited travel agencies. Documents should be submitted no earlier than six months before the intended trip, but not put off until the last moment.

The difference will be only in the package of documents to be presented. For a long-term visa in 2020, you will additionally need to confirm the reasons that prompted you to request such permission. Depending on the purpose of the trip, documents may be requested from the Greek side from educational institutions or employers, Russian professional associations, confirming the professional status of the applicant. Be sure to carry old passports with closed visas.
In any case, the documents will be carefully checked and the information in them verified. It is possible to call the employer to clarify the information in the certificate of income and experience.

Attention! Documents for a long-term stamp are carefully checked, and it is extremely difficult to make it in the presence of violations on previous trips.

However, in the last couple of years, obtaining such permits has become much easier and more and more Russians are taking advantage of the opportunity to spend in Greece not one, but two or more vacations a year.

As you know, Greece is part of the Schengen area, so many people think that Greece without a visa is an idea that cannot be implemented. At first glance, you need a visa to Greece to travel. Greece without a visa: terms and list of islands

Starting from 2012, the Greek government introduces a selective facilitated entry regime for tourists from non-Schengen countries, including Russians and Ukrainians. True, only on some islands and only in spring-summer period - until 2018 - from June 7 to September 30, in 2018 - from mid-April to mid-November.

Greece does not need a Schengen visa to visit in the summer islands of Rhodes, Lesvos, Chios, Kos and Samos. All of them are located in the Aegean Sea, not far from Turkey. Therefore, without a Schengen visa, you can get to Greece exactly from Turkish ports, by ferry.

This list of Turkish ports includes Bodrum, Marmaris, Dikili, Foca, Fethiye, Ayvalik, Cesme and Kusadasi. There are 8 ports in total.

The main condition for a tour without a visa to Greece is the availability of a ferry ticket and a hotel reservation on one of the islands. You can buy such tickets either from travel agencies officially operating in Turkey and Greece, or online using the order form that we have posted below. You can also book a hotel on one of the Dodecanese islands online.

Dodecanese hotels: super discounts

One day before the departure of the ferry, you must send a copy of your passport, an application for a single entry visa and a photo of the Schengen sample to the travel agency. Upon arrival at the ferry, travelers provide the originals of these documents and pay a visa fee of 35 euros.

If you are unable to submit documents to in electronic format 24 hours before the start of your trip by ferry, you can get the so-called visa - light right at the border control by presenting a round-trip ferry ticket, a hotel reservation (if you want to stay on one of the islands for several days). It will take more time - therefore, you need to arrive at the Turkish port in advance in order to have time to arrange everything.

In the same period, from mid-April to mid-November, short-term visit visa for a period of 15 days can be obtained directly from the international airports of the Cyclades - Santorini and Mykonos. Everyone finds their own reason to go to Greece, but among the main ones, everyone notes the gentle sea, clean sandy beaches. Indeed, the mild Mediterranean climate guarantees a comfortable stay from April to the end of October. It offers tourists sandy beaches on the mainland and numerous islands, including the Greek half of Crete. Many of them are marked with the blue flag of the European Commission as part of the Blue Flag environmental program, which means they are tested according to 32 criteria. Delicious dishes of national cuisine and unusual wine add a special flavor to the rest.

Do Russians need a visa to Greece in 2020?

No changes have taken place in 2020: Russians must obtain a Schengen visa to travel to Greece. You can arrange it with the help of intermediaries or independently. In the second case, our article will help you.

Main types of visas

To visit Greece, Russians need to obtain a visa. It can be short-term Schengen or long-term national. In any case, the appeal involves the submission of fingerprints, a digital photo.

An application for a Schengen is submitted if they plan to stay in Greece or other EU countries for no more than 90 days. It can be one trip for 3 months or several. The main thing is that their total duration for six months does not exceed the agreed 90 days and most of the first visit to the EU falls on Greece. Most often, Russians apply for a "guest" or tourist Schengen visa type C, less often for a transit visa (type A) and others.

Schengen visa

Having a national visa (type D) will allow you to stay in Greece for more than 3 months and periodically travel to other European countries. The most common reasons for applying for it are study, work, long-term treatment, business interests.

How much does a visa to Greece cost in 2020?

The cost of a Greek visa depends on its type and the chosen method of obtaining. The first is the consular fee. Some categories of applicants are exempted from its payment. Whether a particular citizen belongs to beneficiaries must be clarified before applying.

Consular fee for obtaining Greek visas:

  • 35 € for Schengen;
  • 180 € for national;
  • 90 € for a national student.

Additional costs include a 20 € service charge. It is paid by those who apply to.

All fees are paid in rubles. The specific amount is indicated on the websites of consulates, visa centers. It is reviewed periodically and depends on the current exchange rate.

Important: consular and service fees are non-refundable even if the right to enter Greek territory is denied.

How to apply for a visa to Greece on your own?

You can get a Greek visa without the help of intermediaries if you apply directly to the Consulate of Greece or to one of the visa centers of the Global Visa Center World (GVCW). Only she, from April 26, 2018, is authorized to accept documents for their further transfer to employees of Greek diplomatic institutions.

The most expensive option for obtaining a Greek visa is to contact accredited travel agencies.

Through the visa center

Applying to the GVCW Visa Application Center can save a lot of time and money. For most Russians, applying for a visa through a Consulate located in another city or even a region of the Russian Federation costs more than a 20 euro service fee. In addition, it is much easier to get an appointment at the EC than at the Consulate General.

To submit documents to the CC, it is recommended to pre-register on the GVCW website. This will allow you to submit documents as quickly and conveniently as possible. Particularly relevant is the electronic registration in the exhibition centers of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Chelyabinsk, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg during the high season. When registering, a separate time is reserved for each applicant, except for the children included in the parents' passport. After choosing the date and time of your visit to the Greek Visa Application Center, you need to print the receipt. It will need to be presented when visiting the EC.

Everyone must submit documents in person so that GVCW staff can take biometric data for the VIS database. An exception is made for children under 12 years of age (inscribed in the parents' passport) and those who have already submitted Schengen biometrics over the past 59 months. In the latter case, an official power of attorney is required to apply.

Especially demanding or busy clients of the Greek Visa Application Centers can use the VIP Lounge. This service is available so far only in the ECs of Moscow, Kaliningrad, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg. Its cost is an additional 50-70 euros (depending on the EC) for each individual application or 100-150 euros for a family (parents + 2 children).

GVCW customers in some cities can use the Personal Assistant service. For 40 euros (for each applicant) or 100 euros for a family, you can get priority service and support from an EC specialist at all stages of applying, submitting biometrics.

Some visa application centers offer a Prime Time service, which allows you to apply outside of business hours for an additional 35-50 euros. In the exhibition centers of St. Petersburg, Murmansk and Petrozavodsk, for 20-35 euros, you can order the Priority Delivery service to avoid queues.

Some VCs also provide Additional services:

  • 300 rub. for filling out the questionnaire;
  • 300 rub. for 6 photos;
  • 300 rub. for priority issuance of a passport;
  • 15-20 rub. for one photocopy.

Also, some ECs provide services of health insurance, mobile biometrics, "Visa to the house" (departure to the client's home / office), courier delivery of passports. The cost and availability of services must be specified directly in the VC.

Important: ordering additional services does not exempt you from paying consular (35 €) and service (20 €) fees. Also, additional services do not affect the speed of consideration of the application by the Consulate and the adoption of a decision.

Through the consulate

Applying for a visa to Greece is possible after preliminary online registration on the website of the Consulate General. The form must be filled out in Latin letters in strict accordance with the passport. This registration method is suitable for anyone who needs a Schengen visa to Greece. But applicants for a national Greek visa for registration need to call directly to the Consulate General of Greece in Moscow, Novorossiysk and St. Petersburg.

A complete package of documents will need to be submitted to the Consulate General at the appointed time. Documents collected at the visa centers also come here. Unlike the EC, consular staff do not help fill out the questionnaires and do not provide other services.

All applications are processed on a general basis. The consulate may invite the applicant for an interview, ask to clarify or supplement some data.

Greece visa application

The questionnaire forms are free of charge. They can be downloaded from the websites of the Consulate, GVCW or obtained directly from these institutions.

GVCW offers to fill out an application for a Greek Schengen visa online electronically. After filling it out, you will need to print it out in order to present it during your visit to the EC. After submitting the questionnaire electronically, it is important to save the created identification number.

Greece visa application form

The questionnaire is completed in Greek or English printed letters. You can do this yourself, but it is better to entrust this to the employees of the visa centers (for Schengen) for 300 rubles, or find an experienced consultant to fill out the form for a national visa.

Unfortunately, there is no template for filling out a national Greek visa.
